When you can write well, read carefully and argue persuasively, you can do just about anything.
The English program at Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵAPP helps students develop skills in the analysis, discussion and criticism of literature. Maryville’s blended program of study focuses on contemporary and classical literature, as well as rhetoric, composition, creative and professional writing. English major careers can include anything from teaching to publishing novels, or attending law school.

PROJECT-BASED LEARNING
Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵAPPEnglish majors develop skills in the analysis, discussion and criticism of literature. They build a solid foundation with the two-semester Survey of English Literature course and a senior capstone project, but the rest of your program is tailored for your career needs. Choose from courses such as Fairy Tales in Literature and Film or Contemporary American Fiction and Nonfiction.

Jesse Kavadlo, PhD, professor of English, was a featured speaker at the Midwest Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association Conference. He has published three books including Don DeLillo: Balance at the Edge of Belief, which is a winner of the National Book Award and the William Dean Howells Medal.
