Program Mission<\/h2>\n

This program is designed to educate an individual to become a professional counselor with a specialization to work with persons with disabilities, such as physical, psychological, substance abuse, developmental, behavioral and cognitive. A rehabilitation counselor is committed to assist the individual to achieve equal access, inclusion in society, meaningful work and independent living with quality of life. A rehabilitation counselor believes that individuals with disabilities represent a major resource for the betterment of society.<\/p>\n

Program Learning Outcomes<\/h2>\n

The Rehabilitation Counseling Program at Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵAPP of St. Louis prepares professional counselors who:
\n\u2022 Develop a worldview which promotes one\u2019s professional identity, highlights reflective practice, adherence to ethical standards, and is able to work in a variety of settings serving a diverse population. [professional identity]

Innovative Learning Experiences<\/h2>\n

Infused throughout the curriculum is an emphasis on developing as professional counselors committed to clinical and cultural competence. Coursework is designed to introduce, reinforce and master CACREP standards. Students will be actively engaged in coursework through a variety of experiential- and evidence-based learning practices including: case studies, role plays, projects and 750 hours of clinical work. Upon completion of the program, students are well prepared for Missouri licensing as a Professional Counselor (LPC) and national certifications as a Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and a national certified counselor (NCC). <\/p>\n
