The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC)\u00a0has announced\u00a0that Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵAPP is the recipient of the James R. Spalding Overall Sportsmanship Award for the 2015-16 season. The award is Maryville\u2019s first-ever GLVC Sportsmanship Award.<\/p>\n

Twenty teams \u2013 one per sport \u2013 and 32 student-athletes \u2013 one male and one female per school \u2013 were also named Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners.<\/p>\n

The Ë¿¹ÏÊÓƵAPPSaints accumulated the most points during the 2015-16 season, and also received team sportsmanship wins in women\u2019s cross country<\/a> and women\u2019s outdoor track and field<\/a>, as well as men\u2019s soccer<\/a>. Troy Payton<\/a> from baseball was Maryville\u2019s James R. Spalding Individual Male Winner, while Elizabeth Kiblinger<\/a> from cross country\/track & field was Maryville\u2019s Female Winner.<\/p>\n

Individual recipients of the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award are recognized for exemplary conduct of fairness, graciousness, and respect toward teammates, opposing teams, coaches, and officials before, during, and after competition as a representative of the GLVC and their institution. Award-winning teams are cited for best sportsmanship throughout the season.<\/p>\n
