Litzsinger Road Ecology Center

Description: Volunteers will be helping remove honeysuckle using loppers/hand saws and applying herbicide to each stump that is cut to prevent the honeysuckle from re-sprouting. Safety equipment will be provided.

Comments: All tools and safety equipment will be provided (work gloves, eye protection, sunscreen, and bug spray). We will be crossing a creek and the water should be low enough that everyone can cross without getting their feet wet. If the water is too high we will work in a different area than currently planned. Where we will be working there is a potential for poison ivy and ticks. Both are uncommon but have been seen on site. All volunteers will have the opportunity to use loppers, hand saws, and apply herbicide. If anyone is uncomfortable applying herbicide they do not have to.

Address: 9733 Litzsinger Road, St. Louis, MO, 63124

Transportation Info: Volunteers will be responsible for transport to site, carpooling is recommended.

Special Directions: The driveway for our office will look like a residential driveway. There is only a mailbox with 9733 that indicated where to turn. We share a driveway with a big white house. Once you turn off of Litzsinger Road and onto the driveway, go past the white house (which is on the right) and there will be parking off to your left. Please Carpool as we have our regular volunteers that come on Tuesday's as well this day too.

Special Instructions: Volunteers should wear long pants, and close-toed shoes. Long sleeve shirts and hats are highly recommended but not required. Please bring water bottles. We will have extra water to refill your bottles and we will provide snacks.
